At the foot of the great Mount Iwate, Grand Seiko Takumi artisans craft mechanical timepieces in the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. At the start of each and every day, a bright red sunrise breaks, symbolising a fresh start and a new beginning -this scenery is captured in the design of this piece.

‘Sunrise at Mount Iwate’ is within the Grand Seiko Heritage Collection – timepieces which echo historical styles re-interpreted with the very latest movements, manufacturing techniques and craftsmanship. First released in 1967, the 44GS case shape created a visually recognisable ‘Grand Seiko Style’ design for Grand Seiko watches to follow – balancing legibility and light with a clear and calm dial layout.

Crafted in ‘Ever-brilliant steel’ special alloy which marks a notable leap in the brand’s pursuit of perfection with the world’s highest level of corrosion resistance, giving the steel a special white hue. Under a dual-curve sapphire crystal glass are Dauphine-style silver-coloured hands and indices and this timepiece has an exhibition caseback.

Powered by an in-house 9S85 mechanical hi-beat movement which vibrates 36,000 times an hour, or 10 beats per second, its accuracy is +5 to –3 seconds a day with a power reserve of 55 hours.

Every Grand Seiko features signature high standards of precision, durability and legibility, handcrafted in Japan by Takumi artisans.
