This timepiece is limited to only 200 pieces worldwide.
This piece is a recreation of the 45GS – Grand Seiko’s first manual-winding timepiece with a 10-beat calibre. The original 45GS, the 4520-8000, was released in November 1968, only one year after the launch of the 44GS which became the blueprint for subsequent Grand Seiko Style. The 45GS was prized for its high precision, regardless of position or external disturbances and, despite its popularity, was no longer made after 1971.
Within an 18 carat yellow gold 45GS case design is a dial designed with the same classic off-white colour as the original, whilst the gold-plated logo and gold-plated hands sit under a box sapphire crystal glass. It is accompanied by a crocodile leather strap paired with a 18 carat yellow-gold clasp.
This recreation offers the original design but with an updated modern in-house 9SA4 hi-beat movement which, along with the power reserve, is visible through its exhibition case back. The 9SA4 is the first Grand Seiko manual-winding 10-beat movement created in over 50 years, first launched at 2024 Watches & Wonders Geneva exhibition. With its impressive power reserve of 80-hours, it remains slim at only 10.4mm with a +5/-3 second per day accuracy.
