This timepiece marks the anniversary of the ‘Grand Seiko Style’ – design principles first established with the 44GS model in 1967.
The 44GS created a visually recognisable “grammar” of design for Grand Seiko watches to follow – balancing legibility and light with a beautiful recognisable dial layout. Zaratsu polishing is a crucial part of this, through the superlative skills of Takumi craftspeople who practise this difficult art. Every surface of each case is polished by hand, creating a mirror finish.
This watch is powered by the manual-winding mechanical Calibre 9S64, with a power reserve of 72 hours and an accuracy rate of +5 to -3 seconds per day.
As a fully integrated watchmaker, Grand Seiko focusses on high precision through in-house technical development. Between 200 and 300 individual components in each watch are assembled by Takumi artisans adjusting parts by hand to tolerances of one hundredth of a millimetre. This extremely detailed craftsmanship ensures the precise timekeeping delivered by the 9S mechanical movement.
Grand Seiko: beautifully precise Japanese watchmaking, handcrafted by Takumi artisans.
