This timepiece is inspired by the twenty four ‘Sekki’ or seasons in Japan; since ancient times these changes in the weather and nature have been incorporated into Japanese daily life.

This new Grand Seiko is inspired by the scenery at Tōhoku during the fourth ‘Sekki’ known as Shunbun. In late March, during the vernal equinox, Tōhoku blooms with pink cherry blossoms whilst snow continues to fall, covering the delicate petals. The dial of this piece recreates the light silvery pink colouring of the Tokuko cherry blossom, named ‘Sakura-Kakushi.’ The handcrafted dial is enclosed in box sapphire crystal glass with an anti-reflective coating.

The design builds on the heritage of the 62GS – Grand Seiko’s first watch to feature automatic winding – launched in 1967. Over the past 45 years, the 62GS case design has grown in popularity thanks to its distinct and striking aesthetic. Built in high-intensity titanium, this model has a mirrored and multi-sided case with a wide dial opening, achieved with a bezel-free construction and Grand Seiko unique Zaratsu polishing. Together, these elements combine in a 38mm case to make this 62GS redux a clean, slim, easy-to-read and comfortable watch.

Its glass exhibition case back showcases the in-house built 9S85 hi-beat movement. With 36,000 vibrations per hour, the 9S85 movement is accurate to +5/-3 seconds per day with a 55-hour power reserve.
